What the installed price includes

The flooring, a standard pad underneath, standard floating installation, transitions between rooms, and haul-away of scraps. Removing your old floor, floor prep, stairs, and moving furniture or appliances are priced separately. Typical prices for each are listed below.

The pad underneath

Most luxury vinyl comes with a pad already attached, but many laminates need a separate pad installed underneath. We stock two: MoistureGuard and Sound Solution. MoistureGuard is a dependable everyday pad, and Sound Solution is an upgrade that cuts down on footstep noise, so the floor sounds quieter and less hollow. Both have a built-in vapor barrier, which matters if your home sits on a concrete slab, as many in the Grand Valley do. Some laminates come with a pad already attached, and for those no separate pad is needed. On concrete, those get a separate 6 mil vapor barrier instead.

Good, better, best

With laminate, moving up usually gets you better water protection, a tougher surface and a more realistic wood look. Mohawk's RevWood line is a good example of how the levels work:

  • Good: RevWood Select, a waterproof laminate at a value price.

  • Better: RevWood Plus, which adds lifetime waterproof protection, protection against pet accidents, and a wider range of styles. It's also safe for wet and steam mopping.

  • Best: RevWood Premier, which adds Mohawk's most realistic wood texture and antimicrobial protection.

Thickness varies from collection to collection within each level, so it isn't the best way to compare laminates on its own.

When you compare two laminate quotes, ask which product line it is, whether a pad is included, and how much water protection it has. Two floors both called "laminate" can be very different products.

Projects outside the Grand Valley, including Mesa, Collbran, De Beque, Gateway, and Glade Park, add an installer trip charge of $2.67 to $3.00 per mile one way, per install day or vehicle. A measure fee may also apply, at the federal mileage rate round trip, and it's credited toward your project if you go ahead with us.

Laminate or LVP?

Laminate often has a harder, more scratch-resistant surface and a very realistic wood look. Luxury vinyl generally handles water better, so it's usually the safer pick for kitchens, bathrooms and basements. Some laminates are made to be water-resistant, so ask us which products are rated for the room you're doing.

Deposit and payment

A 50% deposit schedules your project and orders materials, and the balance is due when installation is complete. We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. Prices shown are before sales tax, which applies to materials only.
