What the installed price includes

The flooring, standard 7/16" 6 lb pad, standard installation, transitions between rooms, and haul-away of scraps. Removing your old floor, floor prep, stairs, and moving furniture or appliances are priced separately. Typical prices for each are listed below.

Good, better, best

  • Good: builder-grade carpet at the lowest price. A smart pick for rentals, spare rooms, and basements.
  • Better: thicker, softer carpet with better warranties. The best balance of feel, lifespan, and price for most homes.
  • Best: premium lines with the richest feel and longest warranties, for living rooms and bedrooms you'll enjoy for years.

Is upgraded pad worth it?

Standard pad is included. Upgrading to SmartCushion, a thicker 1/2" 8 lb pad, adds about $0.40 per square foot. It's worth it in living rooms, hallways, and on stairs, where carpet takes the most wear. Standard pad is fine for bedrooms and guest rooms.

Extra costs that can apply

ItemTypical price
Remove and dispose of old carpet and pad$0.30 – $0.60 / sq ft
Carpet on stairs$7 – $14 per step, plus carpet and pad
Glue tack strip on older concrete$1.50 – $1.70 / linear ft
General floor prep$75 per hour
Trap doors (crawlspace hatches)$35 – $50 each
Furniture moving$25 – $50 per piece · heavy pieces cost more

Projects outside the Grand Valley, including Mesa, Collbran, De Beque, Gateway, and Glade Park, add an installer trip charge of $2.67 to $3.00 per mile one way, per install day or vehicle. A measure fee may also apply, at the federal mileage rate round trip, and it's credited toward your project if you go ahead with us.

Carpet or hard flooring?

Carpet is still the best choice for bedrooms and upstairs rooms where you want warmth, quiet, and a lower price. For kitchens, baths, entries, basements, and homes with pets or young kids, luxury vinyl plank usually holds up better.

Think about lifespan too. A budget carpet may need replacing in 5 to 7 years, so the lowest price today isn't always the lowest cost over time.

Deposit and payment

A 50% deposit schedules your project and orders materials, and the balance is due when installation is complete. We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. Prices shown are before sales tax, which applies to materials only.
